Today was the official moving day! Everything went very smoothly, no other shoes dropped, and the move was a success.
Last night was frenetic – we packed until late in the evening and were even packing today after the movers started. It seems like no matter how much you prepare, there’s always still another box to pack. We thought we had gotten rid of a lot of stuff prior to the packing portion of our program, but when it came right down to it, there was too much stuff.
We had 4 movers from an awesome local moving company. The morning went by really quickly, and the truck was loaded by noon. Not one more box could have fit in the truck – it was full up to the top! It’s a lucky thing we took breakables in the car, I tell you what. We all drove out to our new suburb, and we started the process of unloading the truck. (When I say we, I mean the movers)
Here’s what the truck looked like in our driveway, right before the unloading started:
We had a beautiful day for moving. The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and the breeze was blowing.
The neighbors have come over to say hello, and interrogate us about our new curtains for the living room that are visible to the street. The new curtains have dots, and there seems to be a lot of speculation in the neighborhood about them. Here’s what they look like:
We like the dots, and they look lovely with the orange wall. We like to make the neighbors wonder.
The movers finished around 5:30 PM, right on their estimated schedule.
We celebrated after the move was complete, with champagne served in red plastic cups followed by pizza. We’re classy.
Many, many thanks and much love goes out to my parents, who have worked very hard the last two weekends helping us with everything from painting to packing. Thanks Mom & Dad!
I like dots too. They are “spotacular”!
